Audit: v3 (ours, union)

What this page is for: the problems with this corpus and the evidence behind them. The files are on the download page, and what the columns mean is in the format notes.

What is wrong with this data

No finding has been recorded against this corpus. That is not the same as perfect, and it is not an absence of looking: it was measured on the same drawn hours as the others and is the only one that held the audit's pre-registered prediction. What it has not had is the years of use that surface the rest.

Measured against the chain

Every figure here is measured against on-chain fills for the same hour, by an instrument that shares no input with this archive. Six hours were drawn, and which six was written down before anything was measured. Six hours is a floor, not a sample large enough to describe a corpus, so nothing here is a population rate.

HourTraded marketsRatio Missing
2026-08-18/14 3,817 1.0000 0
2026-08-18/23 2,957 1.0000 0
2026-08-19/00 3,161 1.0000 0
2026-08-19/03 2,897 1.0000 0
2026-08-19/15 4,185 1.0000 0
2026-08-19/23 3,718 1.0000 0
All 6 20,735 1.0000 0

This is the benchmark the other three are read against, and it is worth being precise about what that means: 1.0000 over 6 drawn hours is not a claim that our capture is complete. It is the only corpus that held the audit's pre-registered prediction, on the hours that were drawn before anything was measured.

Markets held, against markets traded

A corpus holds a book for many markets that nobody traded in a given hour. That is not waste: an untraded market with a book is breadth, and it is the difference between an archive you can ask questions of and one that only answers about the busy markets. This counts both sides for each drawn hour.

Median 51.8 markets held for every one that traded, across 6 drawn hours spanning 42.2x to 59.3x.

HourMarkets heldMarkets traded Held per traded
2026-08-18/14 171,777 3,817 45.0x
2026-08-18/23 175,413 2,957 59.3x
2026-08-19/00 176,368 3,161 55.8x
2026-08-19/03 169,232 2,897 58.4x
2026-08-19/15 176,644 4,185 42.2x
2026-08-19/23 177,730 3,718 47.8x

This is the benchmark the other three are read against. Holding about 52 books for every market that traded is what lets the archive answer questions about quiet markets, not only busy ones.

Breadth is not completeness and a bigger number is not automatically better: this says nothing about whether the markets that did trade have books, which is what the coverage ratio above measures. The two share no arithmetic, and they rank the four corpora in the same order.
